David Matthews
Biography
David Matthews is an associate producer for CNN Productions, producing segments from the field for Black in America 2. He also produced for 2008’s Black in America: The Black Man. Matthews is based out of CNN’s world headquarters in Atlanta.
Prior to joining CNN Productions in 2006, Matthews worked as an associate producer for both CNN Inflight and CNN Special Programming. For CNN Inflight, Matthews wrote, produced and reported entertainment packages that also aired on CNN and HLN. With CNN Productions, he has worked on several documentaries including Martin Luther King, Jr.: Words That Changed a Nation, God’s Warriors, Black in America and Escape from Jonestown. For Black in America 2, Matthews field produced the segment from Today’s Pioneers featuring Tyler Perry.
With CNN Special Programming, Matthews produced a segment for Children of the Tsunami, a duPont award-winning special documenting the aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami disaster.
Matthews is a graduate of Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in public relations.
