Biography
Julie O’Neill is an award-winning producer for
CNN Presents.
Since joining CNN as a feeds coordinator in 2000, O’Neill has written and produced a number of projects before joining CNN Productions in 2005. Since then, she has produced documentaries ranging from God’s Warriors and The Last Days of Pope John Paul II to biography specials on
Donald Rumsfeld, Sen. John McCain and Vice President
Joe Biden.t
Throughout the past nine years, O’Neill has intermittently covered daily news for CNN. In 2005, she was sent to Rome to field produce coverage of Pope John Paul II’s funeral and the subsequent naming of a new pope. O’Neill spent the majority of 2008 as a daily news producer for CNN based in New York. During that time, she covered breaking news, investigative stories, feature segments and spent time on the campaign trail.
For Pope Benedict XVI’s first trip to the U.S. after his election, O’Neill coordinated all editorial coverage and served as CNN’s on-site live producer for his mass at Yankee Stadium.
In 2007, O’Neill won an Overseas Press Club Award, a George Foster Peabody Award and a DuPont-Columbia Award for her work on God’s Warriors.
O’Neill graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
